Statement of Principles and Terms and Conditions
Description of Group
Playa Vista Moms Group Inc., (PVMG) is a non-profit corporation formed for the benefit of its members and their families currently residing in Phase 1 or Phase 2 of Playa Vista, 90094. This is a supportive group that also provides opportunities for information, education, outreach, friendship, community, and charity. The PVMG Facebook Group gives our members the opportunity to connect, and helps to facilitate our events, playgroups, educational Speaker Series, and outreach opportunities. This group is not meant to be political, partisan or sectarian and is non-discriminatory.
This Statement of Principles and Terms and Conditions ("Terms,") governs our relationship with our members and others who interact with PVMG. By being a member of our group and by using or accessing the PVMG Facebook Group, you agree to these Terms, as updated from time to time. Your continued membership and use of the PVMG Facebook Group, following notice of the changes to our terms, policies or guidelines, constitutes your acceptance of our amended terms, policies or guidelines.
Yearly Dues/Functions
Membership Dues are $40 per member, per calendar year, and help subsidize the basic costs of many of the PVMG functions. Dues are tax-deductible and are paid upon registration, and then annually thereafter - as long as you are a member. We do occasionally ask for admission fees for our larger events to help with the costs, but kids are generally free. Members are responsible for the wellbeing, safety and behavior of their children at all PVMG functions. PVMG Events, Speakers, and Playgroups are for PVMG members ONLY, unless otherwise noted, and the location or other details of said Events, Speakers, and Playgroups, are not to be shared with non-members.
Membership Process
All new members to the PVMG must join via Facebook and fill out our “Playa Vista Moms Group Member Form.” This form is used to confirm residency and to gather contact information. All information on this form will be kept confidential, and email addresses will only be available to our Board Members. After submitting your membership form, you will be prompted to pay your $40 annual membership dues online via our website. Using the PVMG Name
Members of the group should not represent themselves as “PVMG” when contacting Playa Vista entities such as PVPAL, PVCS, Playa Capital, Elevation Corporation, Seabreeze Management, FirstService Residential, or Brookfield Residential Properties.
We welcome new ideas for events from our members; however, members cannot represent themselves to outside organizations as “PVMG.” If a member has an idea for a new PVMG event, such as a demo class, speaker, or reoccurring playgroup (defined as a group gathering three or more times consecutively at the same time and location) or any other event that our members could attend and benefit from, please contact the Board at president@pvmomsgroup.org. The PVMG Board can assist with organizing on behalf of the group.
The PVMG Facebook Group provides a valuable way for our members to connect, share insight, disseminate information, and provide support for one another. We examine the content on the Facebook Group on a regular basis and we maintain the right to remove any posts, images, videos, or links at our sole discretion.
Commitment to PVMG
In an effort to leverage the way in which we can be of service to one another, the privacy of our members and the integrity of our Group, you make certain commitments relating to your membership in our group. We commit to not only reinforce these expectations but model them as well. As a member you agree to the following:
- You will not provide any false personal information
- You will not post content or take any action that infringes or violates someone else's rights or otherwise violates the law
- You will not collect users' content or information
- You will not bully, intimidate, or harass any member
- You will not post or repost any PVMG content, events or literature
- You will not use PVMG Facebook Group to do anything unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory
- You will not facilitate or encourage any violations of these Terms or our policies
- You grant us permission to post, utilize and maintain pictures, videos and content from our events
- We can remove any content or information you post on Facebook if we believe that it violates these Terms or our policies.
Assume positive intent with one another and engage in friendly, polite, and respectful discourse free of judgment. We welcome healthy debate but will not support inflammatory commentary, public shaming, or identifying photographs.
The PVMG page should not be used for business solicitations including promotion of for-profit events unless approved by the board. An Ad-Day thread will be made available on the first Monday of the month for members to publicize events or promotions. This allows the page to be a source of comfort and community for moms- not frequent advertisements.
Members should feel free to make referrals for products, services, or vendors they have used previously, but may not do so if they are promoting a personal business or one in which they profit from. This includes postings regarding for-profit parties or product referrals (i.e., Cabi, Tastefully Simple, Stich Fix, Zulily, Stella & Dot). Postings of this nature can be included in the monthly Ad-Day thread. Members should continue to ask for recommendations for products (for babies and kids, personal care, etc.), housekeepers, pediatricians, consultants (i.e., sleep, lactation, tutoring), home repair, vacation ideas, etc. and rely on valuable reviews from their neighbors.
Members may make use of the group page to sell personal items (i.e. baby clothes, gear, books, household items). Multiple items for sale should be limited to 1 post.
Members should refrain from commenting or taking over another member’s post with a personal business solicitation. In addition, please make use of the Private Messaging (PM) feature to extend conversations as needed. This ensures discussions remain purposeful for the group at large.
Please respect the privacy and safety of our members by not re-posting, or copying and pasting any PVMG Facebook posts, or any PVMG Event, Speaker, and Playgroup details on other personal or group pages.
Members may not post / re-post notes on the PVMG Facebook page from educational seminars for which members were required to pay to attend, as the seminars are proprietary in nature and attendees had to pay to participate.
We reserve the right to remove posts that are not in accordance with these Terms or our policies, as well as revoke membership when rules are willfully violated.
Termination
We may terminate your membership at any time if you violate the letter or spirit of these Terms, our mission, or otherwise create risk or possible legal exposure for us.
If anyone brings a claim against us related to your actions, you will indemnify and hold us harmless from and against all damages, losses, and expenses of any kind (including reasonable legal fees and costs) related to such claim. Although we provide rules for member conduct, we do not control or direct members’ actions and are not responsible for the actions, content, information or the conduct of our members.
General
If any portion of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining portion will remain in full force and effect. If we fail to enforce any of these Terms, it will not be considered a waiver.
We reserve all rights not expressly granted to you. You will comply with all applicable laws as a member.
The board members post on the Facebook page under the username PVMG Board. Posts represent the views of the entire Board and allow for streamlined communication. Your feedback and ideas drive our work; please feel free to share directly with the PVMG Board by emailing president@pvmomsgroup.org.
